Update: August 1st 2021
We’re happy to say the academy is fully open and new students are welcome once again. We’re very excited to get back to some kind of normality when it comes to teaching, however, we recognise the pandemic is sadly not yet over, and we have put safeguards in place to help protect students, visitors, and tutors alike.
Social distancing is in place throughout all public areas of the building and visitors are invited to wear a face covering at their own discretion.
A strict cleaning rota is in place throughout all public areas to ensure the academy is as safe as possible, and any academy instruments used by students are cleaned on a regular basis.
We politely ask all visitors to use the hand sanitiser that is available at reception when entering the building. There is also hand sanitiser available in every room, as well as anti-bacterial wipes for instruments etc.
If you have any questions about our Covid-19 policy, please email email@example.com.
We look forward to seeing you in person soon!
Update: March 4th, 2021
Well, the lockdown is finally coming to an end! I believe I speak for everyone when I say: woohoo!
We’ve now had confirmation from public health that we can open on April 12th and not before. So, that’s our date… April 12th!
The academy will be open at 3:30pm on Monday April 12th, and all lessons that were paused throughout the lockdown will be automatically reinstated.
Students who’ve been taking online lessons throughout the lockdown will automatically be switched back to face to face lessons (unless you have been taking online lessons since last year i.e. even outside lockdown, then your lessons will continue online).
New students are more than welcome to get in touch. Tutors will be available for free trial lessons face to face from April 12th.
Once again I’d like to thank each and every student and parent for their support throughout the lockdown. Without you, the academy would be closed and the tutors would likely have had to retrain as lord only knows what! So, we humbly thank you for your continued learning throughout the worst times.
All that’s left to say is we look forward to seeing you all in person next month!
Update: January 5th, 2021
In line with yesterday’s announcement of a nationwide lockdown, all lessons will be moving online immediately.
To keep things simple, students who were taking online lessons during the previous lockdown will automatically be switched to online lessons, and students who rolled their lessons on during the previous lockdown will automatically have their lessons rolled on.
Students who’d like to try an online lesson (who previously haven’t done so) are more than welcome to! Just let us know and we’ll send through the details you need to video chat with your tutor. Likewise, if you took online lessons previously but wish not to this time around, send us a quick email or give us a call and we’ll roll your lessons on for you.
I’m sure we’ll all be hoping that things open up again mid-February, and that this lockdown will be the last one! All being well, the vaccine will start having an impact and we’ll see everyone at the academy again next month.
In the meantime, I’d like to wish you all the best from everyone at Amped Up Music Academy,
Nathan, Dave, Leanne, Harry, Jamie, Ralph, Natalie, Grace, Liam & Dan.
Stay safe & stay sane!
Update: November 30th, 2020
We are very happy to say we are reopening the academy on Wednesday 2nd December 2020 as planned.
All lessons on and after Wednesday will be face to face at the academy (unless you were taking online lessons prior to lockdown).
We look forward to seeing you all back at the academy in a few days!
Update: November 2nd, 2020
Due to the increasing spread of COVID-19, the government has announced a month-long lockdown from Thursday 5th November to Wednesday 2nd December.
In line with government requirements, we will be closing the academy on Thursday 5th November until Wednesday 2nd December, with all tutors moving to online lessons only. (if you’d prefer not to take online lessons, please read the bottom of this update).
What do I need to do?
If you’ve previously had online lessons using Skype, your lessons will automatically be switched over to Skype. If you’ve previously had online lessons using Zoom, you can simply join your tutor’s Zoom meeting room at your normal lesson time. Easy peasy!
Students who’ve not previously had online lessons
Zoom is the best way to get started with online lessons. Just let us know you’d like to give it a try and we’ll send you your tutor’s Zoom details!
I’ve not had lessons before and I’d like a free trial with a tutor
Please fill out our free trial enquiry form and we’ll get back to you with availability for December, when the academy is due to open again.
Students who don’t want to take online lessons
We understand online lessons don’t work for everyone, so simply let us know if you’d prefer not to take online lessons and your lessons will be ‘paused’ from Thursday 5th November until Wednesday 2nd December. Please note: Payments made for lessons in November will be rolled on to December, continuing to January if necessary.
We’d like to wish you all the best during this difficult time. Keep yourselves busy and stay safe!
Update: October 21st, 2020
The academy will remain open when Doncaster enters tier 3 on Saturday 24th October, 2020.
As a COVID-19 secure business, we will continue following government guidelines very closely to ensure face to face lessons can be provided as safely and responsibly as possible.
Update: August 1st, 2020
After several months of tutors teaching online via Skype, Zoom and Facetime, we feel the time has come that lessons can safely be provided at the academy once again.
It goes without saying that we’ve implemented a lot of changes to make sure things are as safe as possible for students, family members, tutors and anyone else visiting the academy. Although we want to make things as normal as we can, we hope you’ll bear with us while things are temporarily a little different to usual. Safety is our number one concern, and this will be reflected in several different ways now that the academy is open for face to face lessons.
Here’s what we’re doing to keep things as safe as possible:
1. Sanitisation station
When you enter the academy, you’ll be greeted by a hand sanitisation station. We request that all visitors to the academy sanitise their hands upon entering the building.
2. Face coverings
All tutors will be wearing a face shield and/or a face mask during lessons.
3. Distancing during lessons
All lessons will be taught from a distance of 1m plus (as close to 2m as possible). Piano lessons and drum lessons will temporarily be taught utilising two instruments, with the student using one, and the tutor using another.
4. Sanitising instruments
Instruments used by students will be sanitised after every use. For guitarists, bassists and drummers, we politely request that you bring your own instrument/drum sticks. We understand this is not possible for all instruments, such as pianos, which is why tutors will be especially vigilant when it comes to keeping the academy’s instruments clean.
We’re really excited to get back to face to face lessons and we hope you’re as ready to get back to it as we are.
See you at the academy soon!
